World-renowned South African conservationist Dr. Lawrence Anthony is best known for his extraordinary 6-month rescue initiative of the Baghdad Zoo during the first year of the war in Iraq, as well as his legendary relationship with a herd of wild elephants. As a result of his experiences in Baghdad, as well as a searching look at the many decaying environmental conditions on our planet, he invited a pioneering management consultant, Barbara Wiseman, to help him found a unique non-profit dedicated to bringing effective, long-term solutions to the conservation and environmental problems we all face. They named the organization The Earth Organization. Dedicated to raising awareness of the vital interdependence that every individual has with the natural world, our organization works, through hands-on projects and education, to restore a healthy, thriving planet for all life. We work closely with industry, commerce, government and civic leaders to bring rational, science-based solutions to environmental and conservation challenges that benefit not only the natural world, but also people, jobs, commerce, industry and the economy. When Lawrence passed away in 2012, we renamed the non-profit to Lawrence Anthony Earth Organization (LAEO) in his honor. We know he would be extremely proud of our work and progress since then conducted in his name.
